As a holistic clinician, my greatest joy is watching my patients grow, heal, transform trauma into triumph, and begin to feel the vital aliveness that flows within.

Resolving chronic physical symptoms is one thing (and most definitely a very important thing!), but healing the deeper wounds of the soul and restoring ‘afiya (vital well-being) and our connection to Fitra (Original Balance) is the high goal that we are after. And here at Forward to Health, we do BOTH.

I received my B.S in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from Indiana University in 2009 and my N.D. from the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in 2018. NUHS is one of the 6 remaining accredited naturopathic medical schools in North America. The program is a 4-year post-baccalaureate doctoral program consisting of 2 years of basic science training akin to the conventional medical schools, followed by 2 years of clinical training in naturopathic therapeutics and a 1 year on-site clinical internship.

My training offers me a unique perspective as I am fluent in the diagnostics and mechanics of the mainstream medical model while also maintaining proficiency in my mother tongue of vitalistic naturopathic medicine. This helps me communicate well with regular doctors as well as understand my patients oftentimes complex medical history.

I have also received further training in homeopathy, somatic-relational counseling methods (NARM), advanced training in nutrition and food intolerances (Carroll Method), acupuncture, and more.

I have sat with and learned from some of the world’s greatest doctors, healers, and therapists, and I hope to continue to do so until the end of my life- while being at service.

One of the most important projects I am currently involved in is in developing and teaching the Islamic Psychology diploma at the Cambridge Muslim College.

Working alongside an eclectic team of world-class educators and clinicians, the CMC program is the first in of its kind in developing a top-down AND bottoms-up Islamic Psychology model that is rooted in traditional Islamic metaphysics as well as the holistic vitalistic tradition of Hikma (Naturopathic) Medicine.

I teach Module 3 of the program titled “Hikma: Vitalism & Somatic Medicine”

I’ve also been featured on numerous podcasts and have regularly traveled, in the U.S and abroad, for talks and retreats in various spaces. I have lectured at universities all over the country, including Harvard and Princeton.

I am a father — My children are the apples of my eye and the joys of my heart. Being a father has taught me so much about love; giving and receiving it. I consider them, as well as my wonderful wife, amongst my greatest teachers.

I am a born athlete and I love the outdoors. One can find me in my element hiking a mountain trail, conditioning with kettlebells, and playing competitive sports.

I enjoy driving and modifying cars, and have kept my finger on the pulse of the automobile scene for the past 20 years. One of the fun things about cars is their different personalities, their different temperaments, and I find satisfaction in getting to know a car and optimizing its potential.

I am an avid oud enthusiast. Scent and healing are ancient allies and I consider them, in some capacity, to be one discipline. The connection between teeb (perfume) and the principle of the tayyib (wholesomeness) was not lost upon the ancient Arabs nor is it lost upon me.

Iman Boundaoui is an Algerian-American somatics practitioner with a five-year tail in trauma healing work. After practicing as a civil litigator for five years, Iman turned to the healing-arts for answers to a question she had been asking throughout her life and legal career: how do people come back into their wholeness after oppression and injustice? Bringing her experience working with traumatized people and groups as an attorney, Iman began to explore how healing and coming back into wholeness were the only true recompense after experiences of physical, emotional and psychological traumas– whether interpersonal or collective, direct or intergenerational.

Since that time, Iman has served a wide variety of people, both as a teacher of somatics, and a practitioner and facilitator of somatic trauma-healing, working with both individuals and groups through days-to-years long healing processes that are aimed at: transmuting trauma contractions in the body; freeing up life-force energy that gets trapped behind survival strategies; integrating traumatic experiences; cultivating post-trauma growth and resilience; re-building a felt sense of safety where it has been lost; envisioning new futures; re-engaging the relational space with more agency, consent, and new boundary-making and boundary-dissolving skills. Iman employs a wide range of practices, exercises, and touch-based bodywork techniques in working towards these aims, including breathwork, vipassana meditation, qi-gong exercises, aikido-based practices, and somatic elicitation and experiencing.

Iman’s professional training as a healer intersects and integrates *Co-Active Life Coaching, *Strozzi Institute’s Embodied Transformation and Somatic Bodywork Methodology, and Integrative Somatic Trauma Healing, which she weaves together to help clients generate insight, wisdom and change at all levels– the mind, the body and the spirit. As a result, the transformation and healing process for each individual is unique, and the approaches used are designed as a living curriculum to reflect the unique and present-time needs of each client.

Iman’s integrated approach is practical in helping clients generate new skills, practices and competencies, and is transformative by helping clients embody more aliveness, new behaviors and choices, and a greater range of emotions and moods, which in turn create long-lasting shifts in a client’s way of being, relating, and thinking. As a result, clients naturally continue to move towards greater change, healing and desired life outcomes long after the healing engagement completes.

Throughout her work, Iman grounds in spiritual praxis, bringing her own spiritual growth and cultivation to bear on the healing she offers others. With deep ground, and a spirited center, Iman calls on her own life-force to bear on the energetic healing field she creates for every patient/client/friend to step into.

Endlessly concerned with her own growth, Iman is a committed student of life, constantly working on her own healing and development of greater consciousness in order to serve creation. With every passing year, she adds new tools and techniques to her healing repertoire, learning from the wisdom teachers and healers that she comes across in all parts of the world she travels to, on her life-long journey of seeking, and sharing, knowledge.

My name is Zain Yamani, and I have been working in the healing arts for over 20 years. After receiving a degree in physical therapy, I began my career in healthcare. As I worked with patients in the hospital, I was concerned by the number of individuals who were readmitted to the hospital multiple times without regaining a higher level of health. Many of them suffered from chronic health conditions and had no recourse but to take medications that managed their pain and prolonged their life yet did little to enhance the overall quality of it. I felt that there must be a better solution but did not know what it could be. My questions began to be answered when I crossed paths with masters of the healing arts, individuals who went on to become my mentors.

In 2001, I met Hakim Archuletta, a homeopath from New Mexico who had studied classical homeopathy in the United Kingdom and Unani medicine in the mountains of Pakistan. My conversations with him, combined with the positive results I experienced, inspired me to study homeopathy myself. So, I ventured out to the Greek islands where I was fortunate to complete a training program with George Vithoulkas, considered by many to be the foremost homeopath alive as well as the greatest contributor to its development in the past century.

Since completing my studies, I have worked with clients from a range of backgrounds, including Syrian refugees and members of the Jordanian royal family. Working with patients from around the world, I have treated a variety of ailments such as asthma, digestive issues, women’s health, psychological ailments, acute illnesses, musculoskeletal disorders, vaccine-related injuries, and first aid situations, among others.

In addition, I have received extensive training in the use of the mechanical diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders through the McKenzie Institute. I also have an interest in the role of nutrition in treating chronic pain conditions and recently completed a program in Functional Nutrition for Chronic Pain. I have found many benefits as well in the use of Thai medical massage, a form of acupressure when working with patients.

On a more personal level, I currently live in California with my wife and five children. Together, we enjoy hiking on the local trails near the beach and in the hills of Orange County. We also enjoy gardening and are in the process of converting our front lawn into a drought-resistant garden which will include pomegranate trees, my favorite fruit!
